How the bus works
Public buses on Gozo are run by Malta Public Transport. According to travel sites there are about 16 routes that mostly run hourly in each direction; route 301 between Victoria and the ferry harbour runs more often, about every 30 minutes. Victoria is the central hub, with lines radiating to the towns. On the operator's website you find timetable information and stops, and the journey planner helps with connections: Malta Public Transport. Gozo Channel also publishes a page on how to reach Ċirkewwa and Victoria by bus.
Where you get to easily without a car
According to travel sites you reach Xlendi, Ramla Bay, Marsalforn and Dwejra by bus without problems. Buses run less often in the evening and at the edges of the day, so check the last return, especially for Dwejra and Ramla Bay. Victoria itself, the Citadel and Mġarr harbour are well connected anyway.
| Destination | Bus | Note |

Tours instead of a car
Guided tours take planning and driving off your hands.
You see the live price and availability with the provider. Many offers can be cancelled for free – check this in the offer itself.
Where it gets difficult
Remote bays such as San Blas and Daħlet Qorrot are, according to reports, about a half-hour walk from the nearest bus stop. Sunset spots late in the evening, hike starts early in the morning and smaller places in the west such as Għarb are awkward without a car. If you plan such targets, combine the bus with a taxi or a tour.
Hop-on-hop-off, taxis and tours
According to travel sites the hop-on-hop-off bus stops at several main sights such as Victoria, Dwejra, Ramla Bay and Xlendi, with audio guides in several languages. It is very convenient for a day without a car. Taxis exist on the island; ask about the price in advance or use an app where available. Guided tours take you to several highlights in one day, such as jeep or bus tours; tuk-tuk and quad tours also belong here, more on the page quad, buggy and bike.
Where to stay without a car
Best in Victoria, the bus hub, or in places with short distances such as Marsalforn and Xlendi. From there you reach restaurants, beach and bus on foot. Very remote places are awkward without a car. Check the distance to the nearest bus stop and to grocery shops.
When a car still makes sense
If you stay several days and want to be flexible, a rental car saves time and enables early or late targets. Then compare on our car rental page. A compromise: rent a car for one or two days and use the bus for the rest. For comparing the islands see Gozo or Malta.
Practical tips
Download the timetable beforehand, since reception is not good everywhere. Bring water, because waiting at the stop is hot in summer. Correct change makes boarding easier; check current payment methods with the operator. Allow buffer time for connections in Victoria.
