The view from the fortress walls across the island belongs on every Gozo list. If time is short, stay on the walls; the museums inside are more of a side note.
A large pilgrimage basilica in the middle of fields, visible from afar. Even if you are not religious, the calm inside is noticeable. A quiet counterpoint to the Citadel.

Known among divers but impressive even without gear. The famous Azure Window collapsed years ago, so old photos show something that is gone. Nearby are Fungus Rock and the Inland Sea, a small saltwater lake connected to the open sea by a rock tunnel.

The island's best-known sand beach with red sand. Beautiful but crowded in high season. Above the bay there are caves that open up this view. Calypso's Cave is the best-known viewpoint; the cave itself is small, the outlook is the reason to climb up.

Smaller and quieter than Ramla. The way down is steep and unpaved; many day-trippers avoid it, so the bay stays manageable.
A narrow bay between high rock walls in the south-east, popular with snorkellers. More pebble and rock than sand, with calm deep water right at the shore.

A natural rock arch over the sea, without the crowds that once stood at the Azure Window. Not a place you stumble on by chance.

In summer every village on Gozo celebrates its festa: the church is lit for days, with fireworks, brass bands and full streets. Dates shift slightly each year.
